hmedabad : As part of ‘Van Mahotsav’, saplings of medicinal trees were planted at the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation-Adani Greenmosphere Park this year. The programme was organized by Adani Total Gas Ltd (ATGL) and Consumer Education Research Center (CERC) to make people aware of the importance of going green and creating awareness of the benefits of medicinal plants.

During the event, the focus was on saplings that can be easily planted and maintained, with an aim to increase public involvement and to ensure more and more members of the public plant such trees. “We take immense pride in being a part of this event and aim to provide a sustainable ecosystem for future generations by enhancing greenery and improving air quality and biodiversity. This initiative reinforces our dedication to our long-term vision,” said Pranab Kumar Ghosh, Vice-President of Adani Total Gas Ltd, who participated in the drive.

‘Van Mahotsav’, a tree plantation drive, is observed every July to battle the ill-effects of rampant deforestation. This year, saplings of medicinal plants such as tulsi, ardusi, periwinkle, ajwain and bougainvillea were planted in the houses of participants. Uday Mavani, CEO of CERC, said, “The idea behind giving importance to medicinal plants in the tree plantation campaign was not only to ensure a greener future but also to provide a valuable gift towards improving people’s health.”

Medicinal plants make a significant contribution to biodiversity and help in in preserving both nature and our well-being. The CERC is a resource partner for the Environmental Information Awareness Capacity Building and Livelihood Programme (EIACP) of the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change. ATGL has been vocal about working towards a low-carbon society and planting more trees, adopting an eco-friendly lifestyle, conserving energy and water, and spreading awareness of the same through various programmes and initiatives.
