Bengaluru: In the view of enhancing the confidence of the son, and making the Congress party more strong – the congress President and mother of Rahul Gandhi – Sonia Gandhi on Thursday joined the son-led ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in the Mandya district of Karnataka. Former opposition leader of Rajyasabha Mallikarjun Kharge is also expected to join Bharat Jodo Yatra.

The party workers and leaders were looking forward to the top leader’s participation, seeing it as a morale booster for the workers which will improve the party’s prospects in the state.

Congress president had arrived in Mysuru on Monday and had put up in a resort near the backwaters of Kabini, and she will be joining the padayatra briefly between Pandavapura and Nagamangala towns. This morning, it started from Pandavapura and is slated to end at Chowdenahalli Gate in the Mandya district.

Bharat Jodo Yatra will cover 12 states in total It will be from Kanyakumari to Jammu and Kashmir. According to the sources, People from across India political parties social activists intellectuals writers artists, and other eminent personalities are participating in Bharat Jodo Yatra.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra will pass through Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Nilambur, Mysuru, Bellary, Raichur, Vikarabad, Nanded, Jalgaon, Indore, Kota, Dausa, Alwar, Bulandshahr, Delhi, Ambala, Pathankot, Jammu, and end in Srinagar.

More than 200 civil society members have appealed to the people to support the Congress’ upcoming ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ and similar initiatives by any other organization to defend against the “systematic assault” on the unity and democracy of India.

“Let us all make Bharat Jodo Yatra the decisive step towards renewing our pledge to reclaim an India that is a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic with liberty, equality, justice, and fraternity as its guiding lights,” a civil society member said.

Swaraj India founder Yogendra Yadav, document filmmaker Anand Patwardhan, All India Secular Front’s Anil Sadgopal, rights activist Anjali Bharadwaj, theatre maker Anuradha Kapur, eminent journalist Mrinal Pande, former MP Dharamveer Gandhi and former IAS officers Abhijit Sengupta and Sujata Rao are among the 204 civil society members who signed to the appeal.
