School Education Secretary calls for integrating vocational training into mainstream education at CBSE National Summit

New Delhi: Secretary in the Department of School Education and Literacy, T K Anil Kumar, today said that the National Education Policy 2020 calls for integrating vocational training into mainstream education. Mr Kumar said that the policy also seeks to remove the artificial divide between academic and vocational training. He said this while addressing the Central Board of Secondary Education’s 4th National Summit on Facilitating School to Work Transition in New Delhi.
Mr Kumar said that the most important skill that can be built in a school is the capacity to keep learning. He highlighted that the summit addresses four connected priorities: technology and digital safety; design, creativity, and innovation; recognition of skills across borders and systems; and career guidance with equitable pathways. He said the school-to-work transition is about enabling every learner to make informed choices, continue growing, contribute to society, and live with dignity. He said that this represents the deeper promise of a quality, inclusive, and future-ready education.
The Education Ministry said that the two-day Summit aims to strengthen the integration of skill education with mainstream schooling and facilitate a smoother transition for students from schools to the world of work. It also underscores the importance of breaking down barriers among different streams of education and equipping students with the competencies required to navigate an evolving employment landscape.
