New Delhi: The first Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train, which the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) launched on Wednesday to connect locations along the Ramayana Circuit in India and Nepal, reached the Janakpur Dham station in the neighboring country on Thursday.

About 500 Indian tourists had boarded the train at the Delhi Railway Station for the 18-day journey.

According to The Kathmandu Post, the 14-coach Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train is the first to connect the two countries by rail. The Chief Minister of Nepal’s Madhesh Region, Lalbabu Raut, received the train at Janakpur.

India’s first tourist train to cross international borders and promote tourism will take tourists to the holy sites of Janakpur (Nepal) for the first time. It will also take them to other well-known locations like Ayodhya, Nandigram, Sitamarhi, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Panchvati (Nasik), Hampi, and Rameswaram.
