New Delhi: An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 on the Richter scale jolted the Fayzabad district of Afghanistan during the morning hours of Thursday, June 23, 2022.

The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) took to Twitter and shared seismograph, highlighting the affected areas.

“Earthquake of magnitude 4.4 occurred on June 23, 2022, 09:26 am IST on latitude 36.49 and longitude 70.72 with a depth of 165 km located 69 km South-Southeast (SSE) of Fayzabad, Afghanistan,” the NCS informed.

The region is experiencing severe tectonic activity this year.

The tremblors come a day after the newly established Seismological observatory at Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a 6.1 magnitude earthquake that jolted the Pakistan-Afghanistan border region on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, and caused severe damage in the region.
