Ahmedabad: The Foreign Minister of India, Dr. S Jaishankar visited Ahmedabad Management Association on September 4 and launched the Gujarati version of his book ‘The India Way – Strategies for an uncertain world’ with the name of Nava Bharat Ni Ran-Niti (નવા ભારતની રણનીતિ). The EAM has launched an e-book also. During his speech, the Foreign Minister mentioned several events of Mahabharat and drew correlations with the present context.

Dr. S Jaishankar over Mahabharat said, “If we look at Mahabharata diplomatically, then there is nothing better than this. If we do not take pride, how will the world take pride? The world knows about the Mahabharata but only in small parts, but it is important to bring the whole picture to the world, the state of the world and the plot of the Mahabharata are the same.”

“Arjuna’s problem was how to wage war and what would be the result. This is also a problem in world politics, so different countries try to strengthen the relationship by giving more importance to their own interests. Sometimes such a situation comes in politics and a tough decision has to be taken. Now if I write a book again, I will definitely write on Ramayana, it also has issues including science and politics,” Minister said.

“After 2014, India and its foreign policy have entered a new era, and it is necessary to bring it to the public. Foreign policy is discussed in the whole corner of the country nowadays,” said Minister. “After my retirement in January 2018, I traveled to various countries in 2018-19 and attended many lectures. The feedbacks are mentioned in this book,” said S Jaishankar.

On globalization, the EAM said, “Our focus must be on the development of the economy and politics of the country, but we have to stop unnecessary guests to enter our home. We all know how globalization impacts our life,”

On foreign policy after 2014, the Foreign Minister said, “When Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India, he has focused on ‘neighbor first’ policy and invited neighbor nations first in the ceremony. This has never happened in the history of India and that idea was new. Prime Minister Narendra Modi challenged the old ideas,”

“Thinking of the number 20 and thinking of the number five cannot be the same. We can bring change only with a change in our habits. A favorite word of Prime Minister Modi is ‘Feedback’ and PM always suggests leaders and officers ask for feedback for better governance. Feedback is very important,” he said on India as the fifth largest economy in the world.

China is our super neighbor, their strength, economy, progress, and progress should be studied, he said, no one writes about Japan but I have tried to write about Japan. The opinion of the people of the country will be good with Japan if the relationship between India and Japan becomes stronger, the Foreign Minister said.

The New Delhi government believes that neighborhoods should come first, so we are strengthening relations first with neighboring countries and then with neighboring countries that are a little further away. It is necessary to maintain good relations with all to advance our interests. Thus, foreign policy in the world is guided by the policy of development.

Dr. S Jaishankar said We have to think about who will define us?, We or the world?

In the end, he said, “In the next 25 years, India will be at least the third largest economy in the world. We have talent along with technology, now the world is watching whatever progress is made in the country. Unity is very important in the country, then we will be able to face all the challenges.”

The book has been translated by senior journalist Raj Goswami. The program was conducted by the Chairman of Bharatiya Bishkamanch Ahmedabad City Dr. Shirishi Kashikar. Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale presented the book, in addition, Chintanbhai Sheth, Director of RR Sheth & Co., gave a verbal welcome to Dr. S Jaishankar. Sunilbhai Shah, Provincial Officer of Bharatiya Vich Manch delivered the thanks to EAM.
