New Delhi: In terms of economy, India is the third largest digitalized country in the world.

India is only behind the United States of America (USA) and China, according to a recent study released on Friday by a Delhi-based think tank.

According to the State of India’s Digital Economy Report, 2024, released by the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), the state of digitalization in India is better than some developed countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan, compared by their aggregate level of digitalization.

However, at the level of individual users, India ranked 12th in terms of digitalization among the G20 countries.

The study is based on the ‘CHIPS’ framework wherein it has scored countries on five pillars – connect, harness, innovate, protect, and sustain.

The top five countries in terms of digitalization and their CHIP score are the USA (65.1), China (62.3), India (39.1), the UK (28.8), and Germany (23.8).

The top five large Indian states in this respect are Karnataka (58.7), Maharashtra (52.6), Telangana (50.8), Gujarat (49.7), and Haryana (48.6).
