Tremblor: A 3.9 magnitude earthquake jolts Assam
New Delhi: A mild earthquake of magnitude 3.5 on the Richter scale struck the Tezpur district of Assam during the afternoon of Monday, May 16, 2022.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) shared seismographs on Twitter, highlighting the affected areas.
“Earthquake of magnitude 3.9 occurred on May 16, 2022, 03:22pm IST on latitude 26.59 and longitude 92.95 with a depth of 55 km located 17km East-Southeast (ESE) of Tezpur, Assam, India,” the NCS tweeted.
No reports of damages to life and property due to the earthquake surfaced so far. However, the entire state of Assam is facing the wrath of natural calamities with earthquake, landslides, and heavy rainfall.
