The United States will not send its troops to fight the Russian forces: Says, President Biden
New Delhi: The US President on Friday expressed concerns about the aggression of the Russian Army at the Ukraine border. The United States will not send troops in to fight in Ukraine, but it will continue to support the Ukrainian people, confirmed the US President.
The US further urged Russia to choose diplomacy as it’s not too late to de-escalate and return to the negotiating table.
In a media address from the White House, Joe Biden said, “As of this moment, I am convinced that (Russian President Vladimir Putin) has made the decision (to invade Ukraine). We have reason to believe that. Russian forces intend to attack Ukraine in the coming days. We believe that they will target Ukraine’s capital Kyiv,”
Biden said the US is calling out Russia’s plans loudly repeatedly, not because it wants a conflict but because it is doing everything in its power to remove any reason that Russia may give to justify invading Ukraine and prevent them from moving.
Warning Moscow of consequences, he said that the West is united and resolved, and ready to impose severe sanctions on Russia if it further invades Ukraine.
Nearly half of Russian forces surrounding Ukraine are in attack position, according to a US defence official familiar with the latest assessment.
