New Delhi: A former Defence Minister of Israel – Naftali Bennett on Sunday defeated Netanyahu in polls to become Israel’s Prime Minister.

According to a media report, Netanyahu’s extreme right-wing supporters shouted slurs at Bennett as the Parliament announced the former’s close victory by a 60-59 majority.

A-49-years-old Bennett has served the nation as a Defence Minister.

Bennett is a hardline religious-nationalist and multi-millionaire former tech entrepreneur also.

The right-wing leader will lead a newly-instituted eight-party coalition to form the government, along with centrist Yair Lapid.

It is the first time in Israel’s political history that a party that represents the Arab minority will also be a part of the government.

The coalition, consisting of left-wing, right-wing, centrist, and Arab parties, is expected to have differences due to their divergent interests, but the new government is likely to focus its attention on domestic reforms and will avoid fiddling with international policies.

Naftali Bennett is Son of American-born parents who speaks perfect English. Bennett began life with his parents in Haifa, then kept moving with his family between North America and Israel, military service, law school, and the private sector.

After serving in the elite Sayeret Matkal commando unit, Bennett went to law school at Hebrew University. In 1999, he co-founded Cyota, an anti-fraud software company that was sold in 2005 to U.S.-based RSA Security for $145 million.

Bennett has said the bitter experience of Israel’s 2006 war against the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah drove him to politics

A narrator in his carefree voice said There are some things that we all know will never happen. The Sopranos will never return for another season … And a peace agreement with the Palestinians will not happen.”
