Mumbai: A massive fire broke out on the 18th floor of the 20-storey Kamala building near Bhatia hospital in Mumbai Tardeo at 7:30 am on Saturday, killing seven people and injuring several. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said that “13 fire engines are present at the spot, while five ambulances have been deployed. The injured have been admitted to the nearby Bhatia hospital.”
A local resident of the building said that the electricity of the entire building went off when the fire broke out. When we ran outside and looked up, we could see a huge cloud of smoke. There are six houses on each floor and about 20-22 residents were in the building when the fire broke out. Everyone is being evacuated.
“Doctors at the Nair Hospital said that two of them were brought dead, while the condition of the remaining two is stable and they are being treated,” the official had stated earlier.
Furthermore, the condition of three others was reported to be critical and they were being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU).
