J&K: Top Commander and two other terrorists of LeT killed in an encounter with the Security Forces

Srinagar: Top Commander of Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and two other terrorists were killed in a special operation conducted by the Indian Security Forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday early morning.

The Terrorist killed by the Security Forces – was identified as Ishfaq Dar alias Abu Akram (The LeT commander) and was active in Kashmir since 2017.

According to the local media, an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Shopian district on Sunday. Following a tip-off of terrorists hiding in the Check Sadiq Khan area, the forces started a cordon-and-search operation in the south Kashmir district.

A search operation of the Security Forces was converted into an encounter after a terrorist opened fire on army officers. Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar confirmed that the “Slain LeT commander was identified as Ishfaq Dar alias Abu Akram, and two terrorists including a top commander of proscribed terror outfit LeT, Ishfaq Dar alias Abu Akram was neutralized. Akram was active here since 2017.”

After an encounter, Security personals recovered weapons, ammunition, and other incriminating materials from the site. In the last few days, The Indian armed forces annihilated several terrorists of Lashkar.

The IGP Kashmir further added that “This year three encounters broke out in Srinagar. We all know that three incidents took place in Srinagar. In one incident, a police inspector was killed. In another incident, a mobile shop owner was attacked and killed. And then there was a grenade attack in which three civilians were killed and one was injured. These two terrorists were involved in all these three incidents. We were tracking them. When this information was confirmed yesterday, the CRPF launched a cordon operation. We appealed to them to surrender but they refused after which an encounter started and both were killed.”
