IMD predicts withdrawal of SW Monsoon in Northwestern India
New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted the withdrawal of the South-west monsoon from the Northwestern India on Monday, September 19, 2022.
IMD has been monitoring the movement of the South-west monsoon winds since its arrival in the Indian subcontinent.
The department informed regarding the presence of anti-cyclonic conditions in the North-western region of the country, which is being deemed favourable for the retreat or withdrawal of the monsoon wind system.
IMD also hinted at dry weather which will likely prevail over West Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi during next five days.
Informing about the recent developments, IMD tweeted, “Due to anti-cyclonic flow over northwest India at lower tropospheric levels, dry weather is very likely over West Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi during next 05 days.”
IMD further indicated that the dry weather and anti-cyclonic conditions are favourable for withdrawal of the SW monsoon winds from parts of Northwest India during the next three days.
“Hence conditions are becoming favorable for withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from parts of Northwest India during next 3 days,” IMD said.
