New Delhi: The North Eastern Re-Organisation Cultural Association (NEROCA) football club (FC) defeated Kenkre FC 2-1 during the I-League 2022 at the Naihati Stadium, Kolkata, on Tuesday, April 05, 2022.
The match kick-started with both teams trying to possess and control the ball. NEROCA’s Moirangthem Dhananjoy Singh gave a cross from the left side to Sergio Mendigutxia, but Kenkre’s keeper saved the ball in the 9th minute. NEROCA’S Sergio Mendi gave a left-side cross to Khaiminthang Lhungdim, who passed to Sweden Fernandes.
Though NEROCA dominated the match, Fernandez failed to head the ball in the 18th minute. Meanwhile, Kenkre keeper Tenzin Samdup saved Khaiminthang’s shot in the 21st minute. Fernandez netted NEROCA’S opening goal in the 23rd minute.
Kenkre’s Ranjeet Singh Pandre levelled scores in the 42nd minute. The first half ended in a 1-1 tie.
The second half began with unsuccessful attempts from Mendigutxia and Khaimnthang. However, Mendigutxia netted the second goal in the 50th minute. Kenkre failed to score despite additional five minutes, and NEROCA won the match 2-1.
