Ahmedabad: At least six people died and 20 injured in a chemical leak incident in Gujarat’s diamond city Surat. The incident occurred on Thursday early morning. The tanker which leaked – was filled with poisonous chemicals.
The affected people have been admitted to the Surat Civil Hospital for treatment. Sachin GIDC is an industrial area.
It is being reported that when the driver of the tanker was trying to dump the waste in a drain, the chemical came in contact with the air, leading to the disaster. Reports also suggested that the tanker came from Vadodara and the driver was illegally trying to dump the chemical waste in a drain in the Sachin GIDC area. Police have reached the spot and have started the investigation.
