New Delhi, July 11: A group of England’s fans were attacked by Netherlands supporters in a German restaurant ahead of Wednesday’s Euro 2024 semifinals, the media reported on Thursday. The CCTV footage showed the Dutch supporters punching and throwing chairs at the England fans in Dortmund, Germany.
The United Kingdom’s football policing unit said “We are aware of some reports and videos circulating of the disorder in Dortmund. It appears that there have been several instances of Dutch fans attacking England fans in bars and attempting to steal flags.”
According to police, five people suffered injuries during the clash. The Dutch Football Association said 110,000 Netherlands fans have travelled to Germany. Around 40,000 England fans also went there. England won 2-1 against the Netherlands to reach the finals. It will next play Spain in Sunday’s final in Berlin.
