FIR filed against Sitaram Yechury on his remark, “Epics Ramayana and Mahabharata Are specimens of Hindu Violence!”
PIM general secretary Sitaram Yechury has stoked a controversy saying even Ramayana and Mahabharata are filled with instances of violence and there is no logic in saying that Hindus are non-violent.
Speaking at an event, Sitaram Yechury said, “Ramayana and Mahabharata are also filled with instances of violence and battles. Being a pracharak, you narrate the epics but still claim Hindus can’t be violent? What is the logic behind saying there is a religion which engages in violence and we Hindus don’t.”
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said, “Ramayana and Mahabharata conveyed one central message – victory of good over evil. Sitaram Yechury’s ideology is his own. His ideology has only one objective, which is to attack Hindus and make oneself the premier secular person.”
Slamming CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on his remark that ‘religious epics Ramayana and Mahabharata are specimens of Hindu violence,’ Baba Ramdev said that he along with other sadhus has filed an FIR against him so that no one insults the tradition of India.
Even BJP’s leader Subramanian Swami said that the CPM chief’s remarks were laughable because he represented a party that believed in ‘revolutionary violence’ but espoused non-violence. Narsimha Rao, BJP’s spokesperson said, “We demand an apology from him by trying to defame the Hindu religion and spreading lies and hate against Hindu epics and scriptures that have promoted noble values like victory of good over the evil, universal brotherhood and non-violence.”
