AHMEDABAD: While powering an electric vehicle is significantly cheaper than buying gas, petrol, or diesel, especially with prices on the rise, things are always better when they’re free. In the ongoing celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to mark 75 years of the country’s independence, Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL) is offering EV owners to charge their vehicles for free in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Mangaluru. In another effort to popularize electric vehicles, the offer which started on 10 August 2022 will continue until 24 August 2022 spilling into the 76th year of Independence and provides a unique opportunity to EV users to charge their vehicles for free.

Touted the ‘FREEdom Charge’, the offer is to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav which gives one the freedom from charging charges at zero tariff including cost of electricity for recharging their EV vehicles at the designated EV charging stations. This initiative is driven by the larger eco-sustainable goal of becoming a carbon neutral facility by 2024 and going ‘net zero’ five years down the line from achieving such neutrality. This is ATGL’s way of celebrating the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav in a unique way.

The designated stations for free recharge are Maninagar CNG Station (2W, 3W and 4W), Ahmedabad Airport (4W), GIFT City in Gandhinagar (4W) and Mangaluru Airport (4W). For this, customers must download the ATGL-EV app and log-in to it. The objective behind this campaign is to get more people to switch to electric vehicles and to reach more consumers with the benefit of zero recharge. Efforts are being made worldwide to promote the use of electric vehicles to reduce dependence on petrol and diesel. The use of battery-operated vehicles is being accelerated with the aim of reducing air pollution and popularizing battery-operated vehicles among people.

The inclination towards electric vehicles among Indian motorists has increased significantly in the last few years. India aims to have an estimated 30% share in the EV industry by 2030. So, there is no doubt that the number of electric vehicle owners will increase in India appealing most of the vehicle owners to break free from the shackles of polluting, conventional vehicular fuels like petrol and diesel and embrace the green mobility solutions eventually decreasing the pollution level.
