Sedition: Veterans demand arrest of Dr. Abdullah, Mehbooba
New Delhi: A group of veterans comprising retired bureaucrats, ex-officers of the Indian Army, Air Force and Navy, academicians, and professionals has demanded the arrest of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Ministers Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti for their alleged “treason.”
In a joint statement, signed by 267 veterans, they said the two J&K leaders’ recent rhetoric was “anti-India” and amounted to “sedition.”
The two leaders were continuously trying to misuse the freedom of expression, talk ill about the country and its Constitution, and promote separatism, they said.
In this connection, they cited Dr. Abdullah’s virtual threat that China’s help could be sought to restore Article 370 and Mufti’s statement to not unfurl the Indian flag until she could also unfurl the erstwhile J&K flag.
The signatories include former Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court Anil Deo Singh, former CJ of Sikkim HC Pramod Kohli, former RAW chief Sanjeev Tripathi, former Kerala Chief Secretary Anand Bose, and former UP DGP O P Singh.
