Football: Pep Guardiola to stay at Manchester City beyond the next season
New Delhi, July 27: Manchester City FC head coach Pep Guardiola, who was earlier said to be preparing to quit after the coming season, has said he could stay, the media reported on Saturday.
At the end of the last season, Guardiola raised doubts about his future at Manchester City when he said he was “closer to leaving than staying.”
“I didn’t say I was leaving. Nine years today in the same club is an eternity. I want to be sure it’s the right decision, not just for me, for the club, and the players.”
Guardiola,53, joined Manchester City FC in 2016. Since then, he won 10 major trophies, including six English Premier League titles, two FA Cup titles, and the club’s first Champions League title.
Former Manchester United FC coach Sir Alex Ferguson is the only coach who won more English Premier League titles than Manchester City’s Guardiola.
