Southwest Monsoon advances over Central, Eastern, and Western India: IMD
New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) informed the advancement of the Southwest Monsoon winds over central-eastern and western parts of India on Monday, June 20, 2022.
Talking about the advancement, the IMD wrote on Twitter, “Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into most parts of Madhya Pradesh, remaining parts of Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and northwest Bay of Bengal, entire Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal, most parts of Jharkhand and Bihar, and some parts of southeast Uttar Pradesh today, June 20, 2022.”
IMD also predicted the continuation of SW monsoon rains and thunderstorm over Central and Eastern India during the next two days. The IMD tweeted, “Thunderstorm activity accompanied by isolated heavy showers likely to continue over North, Central, and East India during next 2 days.”
The department said that intense rainfall will to continue along the western coast of India during the next five days. “Intense spell of rainfall along west coast during next 5 days,” the IMD said.
“Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Gujarat region, Madhya Pradesh, remaining parts of Vidarbha, some more parts of Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar,” IMD added.
