New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted widespread and scattered rainfall over North India between June 16 and June 18, 2022.

According to the IMD, the rainfall will be caused due to a fresh Western Disturbance that is being carried by the Easterlies.

The department took to Twitter on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, and wrote, “Under the influence of Western Disturbances and lower level easterlies: fairly widespread to widespread rainfall over Western Himalayan region and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh during June 16th-18th.”

The department informed regarding rainfall in the lower Himalayan states and wrote, “Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on June 17.”

Meanwhile, IMD also predicted a gradual rise in rainfall activity in the eastern states of  Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal. “Rainfall activity likely to increase gradually over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal with fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning, and gusty winds during next 5 days,” the IMD tweeted.

“Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Jharkhand during June 16-19; Gangetic West Bengal on June 16 and 17; and over Bihar during June 15-19,” it further added.
