Post-pandemic: Passenger trains between India, B’desh to resume from May 29
New Delhi: After remaining suspended temporarily from March 2020 because of the pandemic, passenger train services between India and Bangladesh will restart on May 29.
The Kolkata-Dhaka Maitree Express, five days a week, and the Kolkata-Khulna Bandhan Express, twice a week, will restart running normally, officials said.
The Maitree Express will restart in Dhaka, while the Bandhan Express will resume its operations from Kolkata.
A third passenger train, the New Jalpaiguri (NPJ)-Dhaka Mitali Express, which the two countries’ Prime Ministers inaugurated virtually in March 2021, will begin operations on June 1, 2022.
