New Delhi: With a Line of Credit (LOC) to Bangladesh, India is helping the neighboring country to set up an Information Technology/Hi-Tech Park whose foundation stone was laid near Dhaka on Saturday.

The foundation stone for a seven-story building, spread over a 15,000 square feet area, was laid in the presence of Vikram Doraiswami, India’s High Commissioner to Dhaka, and Bangladesh Ministers Nasrul Hamid and Zunaid Ahmed Palak, among others, at Keraniganj, near Dhaka.

This IT/Hi-Tech Park in Keraniganj is among the 12 projects being developed in Bangladesh under the Government of India’s LOC and will include the development of green buildings which would be both energy efficient and environmentally benign.

With a committed LOC of over USD 7.86 billion for various projects in the country, Bangladesh is now India’s largest development partner.

The Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) hosted the ceremony under the auspices of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division of the Government of Bangladesh.
