Mumbai: Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) announced his own upcoming OTT platform through social media on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

On Tuesday, the actor posted a picture on his social media handles along with a caption that read, “Something is about to happen, in the world of OTT.” The post has a picture of him posing a thumbs-up besides an SRK+ coming soon.

Though SRK tried stirring curiosity by teaming with Disney + Hotstar through promotional videos and television advertisements in 2021, the announcements halted after his son Aryan Khan brawled into a controversy.

Several Bollywood actors and celebrities congratulated Khan. Director Anurag Kashyap took to the micro-blogging website to confirm the news, congratulate Khan, and announce the collaboration. “Dream come true! Collaborating with SRK on his new OTT app, SRK+,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, co-actor Salman Khan too lauded SRK and tweeted, “Today’s party is on you, SRK. Congrats on your new OTT app, SRK+.”

Last year, Khan hinted at his OTT debut with a promotional video that features SRK greeting fans from his home, Mannat, whereas actor Rajesh Jais, who stood beside him, seemed worried. He shares his doubts on whether SRK’s fan base will remain the same in the future.

Confused, SRK asks him the reason for such a doubt. Jais clarifies and explains how big industry names have their content on a well-known OTT platform, Disney + Hotstar. An interested Shah Rukh questions, “Really! Who all?” and Jais names a few actors, including Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, and Sanjay Dutt.

A visibly worried Khan asks whether everyone is on Disney + Hotstar and Jais negates the statement. He replies, “I mean, not everyone is on the platform.” Curious, SRK further asks names of actors who are yet to debut on the OTT platform. Jais hesitatingly replies, “Sir, you.”

The video ends with a voiceover stating that all big names are on Disney + Hotstar except Shah Rukh Khan. The words ‘to-be-continued’ would then appear on the screen, indicating that the actor had something under wraps.

Shah Rukh Khan had recently announced the release of his upcoming Bollywood film, Pathaan, which co-stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Pathaan will have a January 26, 2023 release.
