Earthquake measuring 4.1 strikes Uttarakhand
New Delhi: An earthquake with an intensity of 4.1 on the Richter scale struck the Uttarkashi region of Uttarakhand during the early hours of Saturday, February 12, 2022.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) shared a seismograph on Twitter. The seismograph highlighted the affected areas. “Earthquake of magnitude 4.1 occurred on February 12, 2022, at 05:03 am on latitude 30.72 and longitude 78.85, with a depth of 28 km located 39km East of Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, India,” the NCS tweeted.
The Uttarkashi region experienced the earthquake for the second time in a month. The region previously experienced a mild tremblor that measured intensity of 3.9 on the Richter scale. People were sound asleep when the tremblor struck the Uttarkashi region around 03:00 am on February 05, 2022.
Informing about the earthquake, the NCS tweeted, “Earthquake of magnitude 3.6 occurred on February 05, 2022, at 03:15 am IST on latitude 31.14, longitude 78.06 with a depth of 10 km and located 58km Northwest of Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, India.”
However, no damage or casualty was reported so far.
