New Delhi: Team Patna Pirates defeated Tamil Thalaivas 52-24 in a historic match of the Pro Kabaddi League at the Sheraton Grand, Bengaluru, on Friday, January 28, 2022. Tamil won the toss, and Patna went to raid first.
Patna’s Monu Goyat opened the match with a raid and made a touchpoint off Sagar Krishna on the right corner. Tamil’s Manjeet Chillar equalised scores. Tamil’s Ajinkya Pawar conducted a do-or-die raid with a dubki, but Patna’s Sajin C and Mohammadreza Chiyaneh Shadloui combined and trapped him.
Tamil had a strong defense and was constantly equalising scores. Goyat conducted another raid and gained a point for the team. Meanwhile, Shadloui made a massive dash and took Manjeet off the mat. Patna conducted a successful All Out and was in the lead with 15-8 points.
Tamil’s Sagar Rathee made Goyat down, followed by a bonus for Pawar. Manjeet conducted a raid and got a touchpoint off Patna’s Neeraj Kumar. The first half ended with Patna leading 21-12.
The second half began with raider Goyat initiating a tackle against Pawar’s do-or-die raid and earning a point. Manjeet brutally attacked Goyat on his face and sent him to the bench. Patna conducted a super tackle while Tamil’s Sagar Rathee got a High Five.
Shadloui took down opponent Mohit Chillar and got a High Five. Though Mohit went for a raid, Patna made an All Out and was ahead by 48-19 points. Neeraj and Sunil Kumar received High Fives, and Patna won the match with a whopping 52-24 points.
