Jammu and Kashmir: Policeman killed by a terrorist in Srinagar’s Batamaloo
Srinagar: A Police officer of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday was shot dead by a terrorist in the Batamaloo area of Srinagar. The policeman has been identified as Constable Tausif Ahmad, Says media report.
The official informed that “The cop was critically injured and was taken to the SMHS hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Tausif Ahmad was 29 years old. At about 8 pm, terrorists fired upon JKP Constable Tausif Ahmad near his residence at SD Colony, Batamaloo.”
The area has been cordoned off, and a hunt has been launched to nab the attackers.
This comes as Jammu-Kashmir witnesses a worrying trend with targetted killings of civilians. In October, the total number of victims who died in the targeted civilian attacks in the union territory reached 11 after four more non-locals were shot dead.
Two non-local residents were killed and another sustained injuries when unknown gunmen fired upon them in the Kulgam district of south Kashmir on October 17.
Earlier, the teachers who were killed on October 7 were identified as Supinder Kour, a resident of Alochi Bagh area in Srinagar, and Deepak Chand, a resident of Jammu. They were working as teachers at Government Boys School, Sangam.
