New Delhi: The Afghan Security Forces on Friday informed that “Afghan security forces have captured the Khinjan district again from the Taliban. Khinjan district is located in Baghlan province.”

“Following a counter-offensive and clean-up operations, the Khinjan district and the neighboring Kilagai area were liberated and the Taliban militants after suffering casualties fled,” Statement said.

According to a media report, “Taliban militants have captured seven districts in Baghlan over the past couple of weeks. Heavy clashes have been underway on the outskirts of the provincial capital Pul-e-Khumri city for the last five days, but security forces have managed to prevent the group from entering the city, 160 km north of Kabul.”

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defence in its statement said that “The districts are Andkhoi and Khan Chahar Bagh in Faryab Province, Khinjan and Doshi in Baghlan province, and Ahmad Aba and Sayed Karam in Paktia Province.”

Fierce clashes have continued between the Taliban militants and government forces since the drawdown of US troops on 1 May.

The Spokesperson of the Taliban Zabihullah Mujahid in his statement confirmed that the Taliban have captured more than 70 districts over the past month.

Afghanistan-based political experts have already predicted that the security forces of Afghanistan may not receive any support from the other nation to fight against the Taliban.
