  • World Malaria Day is celebrated every year on 25th April by WHO.
  • Theme of this year is “Reaching the Zero Malaria Target”.
  • WHO has total eleven official Global Public Health campaigns and one of which is World Malaria Day.
  • Earlier this day was known as African Malaria Day.
  • Malaria is caused by Plasmodium parasite. The disease spreads to the humans through the bite of female Anopheles mosquito.

  • As per WHO report, India represents 3% of total global malaria cases.
  • India has set a target of becoming Malaria free country by 2027 and elimination by 2030.
  • Recently ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced that in 2020, 116 Indian districts reported zero Malaria case.
