With an eye on India, China agrees to develop more strategic relations with Pakistan

New Delhi: The Government of China has expressed interest in developing more strategic and defense relations with Pakistan amid the rising strength of Indian forces in South Asia. On Sunday, The government of Pakistan and China agreed to continue the momentum in defense cooperation at various levels between the armed forces of the two countries.

China’s intention behind constructing political relations with Pakistan – is to counter India from the west side.

The Chinese side reaffirmed its support for Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence, and security, as well as promoting its socio-economic development and prosperity, while Pakistan expressed its commitment to One-China Policy and support for China on Taiwan, South China Sea, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and Tibet.

Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan met the President of China after around two years.

The cooperation between Islamabad and Beijing was mentioned in the 33-point joint statement after Prime Minister Imran Khan visited China, where he held talks with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang.

China, paying tribute to Pakistan’s fight against terrorism, said it recognized Pakistan’s sacrifices and efforts in the fight against terrorism. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The Chinese side appreciated the Prime Minister’s launch of the Pakistan-China Business and Investment Forum, which will enhance B2B cooperation between the business sectors of both countries.
