New Delhi: A bison was found dead at the Kanan Zoological Garden in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, on Friday.
Veterinarians, who conducted a postmortem, could not ascertain the cause of death and decided to send the animal’s viscera to the Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary College, Jabalpur, for further investigation.
The zoo employees saw the bison writhing in agony after being fed on Friday afternoon. Zoo officials called the vets but the animal died before their arrival. Officials from forest conservation and eco-tourism departments also reached the spot.
