New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted scattered and isolated rainfall over parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala for the next 5 days.

The IMD shared spatial distribution charts on Twitter and wrote, “Isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall activity likely over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, and Kerala and Mahe during next 5 days.”

“The phenomenon will be caused by an Easterlies trough moving in lower levels from Sri Lanka towards the West-Central Bay of Bengal off the Andhra Pradesh coast.”

Besides, another western disturbance in the Himalayas will affect the weather conditions of the Northern States and Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. The presence of Northerlies in the region will lead to colder and drier temperatures for the next few days before spreading towards the Central and Eastern parts of the country.

“A fresh Western Disturbance likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from the night of 13th December. It is very likely to cause light isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh during 13th-15th December,” the IMD said.
