New Delhi, March 38: The ministry of housing and urban affairs is organising a rally for garbage-free cities under the campaign of Swachhotasav on the occasion of the International Day of Zero Waste on the dates of March 29, 30, and 31, 2023, in New Delhi.
Swachhotsav, the three-week, woman-led swachata campaign, started on March 8th and was launched by the union minister, Harshdeep S. Puri, under the initiative of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, which is the world’s biggest behavioural change programme in sanitation and was launched by the prime minister, Narendra Modi.
The Swachh mashal March will take place under the campaign Swachhotsav, where the citizens will rely on the theme garbage free cities and an initiative to conduct cleanliness drives at public places, water bodies, railway tracks, and public toilets in every place, mainly in the urban local body, in which over 200 cities have already joined the team.
The main focus of the campaign is on the sanitation coverage in different areas with the sustainable development goals; surprisingly, the rally’s date also coincides with the international day of zero waste, where this year’s theme is “achieving sustainable and environmentally sound practises of minimising and managing waste.”
To recognise the woman entrepreneur who is working for urban swachhta, they were announcing the first edition of the Woman Icons Leading Swachhta (WINS) award under this campaign.
The delegates, which are the mayor, commissioner, mission directors, business and tech experts, women and youth leading sanitation, technical institutions, development partners, and the UN resident coordinator, were all expected to be present at the event.
