Sports: India wins two more gold medals in ISSF Jr. World Championship 2021
New Delhi: Indian shooter Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar, 20, created a new world record and bagged a gold medal in the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 positions event of the ISSF Junior World Championship 2021 at Lima, Peru, on Tuesday.
After equalling the previous world record of 1185 points to top the list of qualifiers, he set a new Junior World Record with 463.4 points in the finals.
His counterpart, Lucas Bernard Denis Kryzs of France, secured silver with 456.5 points whereas Gavin Barnick of the USA stood 3rd with a bronze medal and score of 446.6.
Meanwhile, Naamya Kapoor, 14, won a gold medal in the Women’s 25m Pistol event. She shot 36 in the finals to secure gold against French shooter Camille Jedrzejewski, who shot 33 to win silver, while 19-year-old Indian Olympian Manu Bhaker stood 3rd with a bronze.
So far, India has won 17 medals in the Championship, including 8 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze medals.
The multi-disciplinary shooting event witnessed nearly 370 athletes taking part from 36 nations.
