New Delhi: Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will deliver the 67th Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial Lecture on October 27 at Akashvani’s Rang Bhawan Auditorium on Sansad Marg in New Delhi.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that the lecture will begin at 3 pm. Its recording will be broadcast across the Akashvani network at 9.30 pm on October 31, marking Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary.
Akashvani has organised the lecture series since 1955 in memory of India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Information and Broadcasting Minister, who is remembered as the “Iron Man of India” for his role in national integration.
The inaugural lecture was delivered by C. Rajagopalachari, independent India’s first Indian Governor-General. Over the years, speakers have included Zakir Hussain, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, M. S. Swaminathan, Justice Leila Seth, Ram Nath Kovind, Arun Jaitley, Ajit Doval, S. Jaishankar and General Bipin Rawat.
Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya delivered the 66th edition last year.
The series provides a platform for distinguished speakers to discuss India’s culture, development and other issues of national importance.
Entry is open to all on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to the availability of seats.
