Rajnath Singh to attend Joint Commanders’ Conference in Jaipur today
New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will attend the second edition of the Joint Commanders’ Conference in Jaipur on May 7 and 8, with discussions set to focus on “Military Capability in New Domains” amid the rapidly evolving nature of modern warfare.
Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan will also participate in the conference, which coincides with the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor — a landmark tri-service military operation regarded as a reflection of India’s political resolve and precision-based military response.
According to the Defence Ministry, the conference assumes significance at a time when warfare is becoming increasingly technology-driven, shaped by the growing influence of artificial intelligence, unmanned systems and emerging threats extending beyond conventional battlefields.
The deliberations are expected to focus on challenges emerging in cyber, space and cognitive warfare, while also charting a roadmap for building a resilient and future-ready force with a decisive operational edge.
A key focus area during the conference will be accelerating indigenisation and strengthening the government’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative in defence manufacturing by promoting innovation and deeper civil-military fusion within the domestic ecosystem.
The event will also feature demonstrations of futuristic applications developed in-house by the armed forces. In addition, new doctrines related to future warfare concepts and operational strategies are expected to be unveiled during the conference.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, 2025, involved coordinated action by the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The operation had highlighted growing synergy among the three services and marked one of India’s most significant precision-based military campaigns against cross-border terror infrastructure in recent years.
