New Delhi, April 19: The PTP-NER (the Promotion of Tribal Products from the North-Eastern Region) scheme, which is formed to help the tribal community and its artists, was praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.

The PM shared a tweet where he wrote about the scheme: “PTP-NER is a great scheme, aimed at improving the lives of the talented artists belonging to the Northeast. It will also ensure great visibility for products from the Northeast, and the tribal community will practically benefit due to this.”

The PTP-NER scheme is designed to benefit the scheduled tribal residents of the North-Eastern region by enhancing the procurement, logistics, and marketing efficiency of tribal products. Under this scheme, the government has planned to empanel the tribal artisans from the Northeast by organising 68 Tribal Artisan Melas.

The mela will help them showcase their talent and skills at the national level. It is going to be organised during the months of April–May 2023 in various districts of the north-eastern region, where the first Mela started in the Manipur state on Wednesday.
