Paris 2024: English fans outnumber the French and others in buying Olympic tickets
New Delhi, Feb 2: France is set to host the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris in July and August, but more English fans have bought tickets for the extravaganza than the French themselves, or any other country.
Preparations are in full swing for the Games, scheduled to be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The fans are buying their tickets and getting ready to watch the Games.
Etienne Thobois, CEO of the Paris Olympics, revealed that the English fans have outnumbered all others in buying tickets.
“I don’t know if it’s an expectation of Team Great Britain’s great performance, but we are very excited to welcome you.”
“London 2012 is still in the memories of everyone and it was inspiring to us too.” Thobois underlined “unprecedented” security measures amid safety concerns. “We are on high alert,” he said.
“Hosting the Olympics and Paralympics raises the bar, but we are ready for the challenge”.
Nearly 45,000 security personnel will be deployed in Paris during the Games.
After the British, who have so far bought 500,000 tickets, the French are the second largest buyers of Olympics tickets.
Although well-prepared, France is still facing public transport issues and a lot of homeless people.
