Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president recently made a statement regarding Asia Cup 2023, which is making headlines. Jay Shah said, “The Indian team will not tour Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup.”

Many former Pakistani cricketers are expressing their opinion on this statement, and some have gone as far as boycotting Sunday’s T20 World Cup match in Melbourne.

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Kamal has gone a step further and asked for a complete boycott against India, including the upcoming T20 World Cup clash between Pakistan and India on Sunday.

“Asia Cup should only be hosted in Pakistan and if that does not happen then Pakistan should not play against India at any level, be it ICC events’ matches, Asia Cup matches, or even their match on October 23,” he added.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has issued a statement following the comments of Asian Cricket Council President Jay Shah and requested an emergency meeting of the Asian Cricket Board.

Pakistan holds the hosting rights for the 2023 Asia Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy. With both tournaments to be held in Pakistan, it will be interesting to see if the relationship between the two boards remains cordial.
