New Delhi: Amid an undeclared war with India, Pakistan is grappling with another home-made crisis. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), the largest Opposition party, is holding rallies demanding the immediate release of its chairman, Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi, the former Prime Minister, who has been in jail for the last two years on multiple charges.
The media reports, quoting PTI, said its senior leader and Khaibar Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has approached the Islamabad High Court seeking the release of the party’s founder.
Pakistan needs a strong leader to lead it in the current circumstances, the PTI said.

Gandapur filed the petition on Friday for the release of the jailed former PM, also expressing the fear of a drone attack on the prison where he is kept.
He requested the immediate release of Khan for national harmony and solidarity, at least on parole or probation.
The court has not set any date for the hearing of the plea.
