Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla unveils Swami Vivekanda’s Statue in Mexico
New Delhi: The Indian Lok Sabha speaker, Om Birla, unveiled the statue of Indian reformer, Swami Vivekanada, in Mexico on Saturday, September 03, 2022.
Om Birla took to Twitter to share the photographs of unveiling and said, “Honoured to unveil a Statue of Swami Vivekananda in Mexico. This is the first statue of Swami ji in Latin America. The statue will be a source of inspiration for people, especially for the youth of the region, to strive and bring the change which will take their country to new prime.”
Talking about Vivekanada, he tweeted, “Swami ji’s message and teachings to the humanity transcend geographical barriers and time. His message is for the entire humanity. Today, by unveiling his bust in Mexico, we are paying our humble Tributes to him.”
Birla is currently leading an Indian delegation to Mexico and even met the President of the Chamber of Deputies in Mexico Santiago Creel.
The two leaders discussed several matters of mutual importance and observed the historic relations between the two nations, dating back to when Mexico became the first country to recognise India as an independent nation in 1947.
He had also unveiled a bust of freedom fighter, Dr. Pandurang Khankhoje, at the Chapingo University of Mexico on Friday, September 02, 2022.
Earlier, the Lok Sabha Speaker had inaugurated the India-Mexico friendship garden in Mexican Parliament Complex in hopes that the Park, which symbolizes the vibrancy of relations between the two countries, would spread the energy and fragrance of democracy to the whole world.
