Srinagar: In the middle of the opposing of ‘the Kashmir Files’ film directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film director shared a video – in which Kashmiri Muslims apologized for the killing of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley.

Vivek thanked him and wrote that “acknowledging the genocide” is the “first step” towards the right to justice.

Vivek Agnihotri’s film The Kashmir Files has triggered a debate around the killing of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley that led to their genocide in the early 1990s.

Amid all of this, a particular video clip of an interview on a Kashmiri news channel has grabbed Vivek Agnihotri’s attention.

Javed Beigh, general secretary of People’s Democratic Front (Secular) said he was an eyewitness to the Sangrampora massacre. “Dozens of Kashmiri Pandits were killed. I have seen it with my own eyes. Those who were killed were neither stopping anyone’s freedom nor killing any Kashmiri Muslim. There were unarmed people. If that’s not a massacre, what is it? Those crimes had been committed and for that, we should apologize to the Kashmiri Pandits,” Javed said.

The Kashmir Files follows the true story of brutal sufferings endured by Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, during the Kashmir insurgency. The true story is based on video interviews of the first generation victims of The Kashmir Genocide of the Kashmiri Pandit Community and follows a heart-wrenching narrative of the pain and suffering endured by the Kashmiri Pandits.
