New Delhi: English cricketer Liam Livingstone struck a massive six that travelled 117m during the match between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans during the IPL 2022 on Tuesday, May 03, 2022.

It is the longest six in the 15th season of the annual cricket tournament. Livingstone took charge and smashed a six against Mohammed Shami to rank 8 in the list of the longest sixes made in the IPL history.

Liam also made a total of 28 runs of Shami’s over, making it the second most expensive in the ongoing season. Though Gujarat was winning with 143 runs against Punjab with 27 runs in 30 balls, Liam dumbfounded everyone with a six.

Head Coach of Punjab Kings, Anil Kumble said, “I have seen Chris Gayle do that often, but this was something different.” Former England captain Kevin Pietersen hailed the move as “biggest six he has ever seen” from the commentary box.

Talking about the shot, Liam said, “Swinging hard enough-I didn’t think I was going to bat at one point, nice to go out and hit a few out the middle. I thought Shikhar and Bhanu played beautifully with that partnership. It was a big win for us and we needed it. We have played some bad cricket in the last couple of games and it is nice to turn it around.”

The longest six was hit by Albie Morkel at 125m in the history of IPL, followed by Praveen Kumar (124m) at rank two, Adam Gilchrist (122m) at third, Robin Uthappa (120m) fourth, and Chris Gayle (119m) at the fifth position.

Gayle is followed by Yuvraj Singh (119m), Ross Taylor (119m), Liam Livingstone (117m), Gautam Gambhir (117m), and Ben Cutting (117) from rank six to ten respectively.

“I went up to Mayank and said that I fancy going before you. He said: ‘you go in if Bhanu gets out, and I go in if Shikhar gets out’. We know our roles and we have more stability if Mayank is there. It is all about learning, it is hard to go in and play the way we wanted to as a new team. We played a bit smarter today, and you have to play like that on such pitches,” Livingstone said after the match.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are currently batting against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2022 on Wednesday, May 04, 2022.
