Indian Wells Masters 2022: Liam Broady defeats Ramkumar Ramanathan 2-1 in the Qualifiers
New Delhi: British No.04 tennis player Liam Broady defeated Indian player Ramkumar Ramanathan 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 in the qualifying round of the Indian Wells Masters 2022 in California, United States, on Wednesday, March 09, 2022.
Despite losing the opening set against Broady by an embarrassing 2-6, Ramanathan made a comeback with aggressive serves as he charged against his opponent. His on-point aces, court coverage, and Broady’s double faults helped Ramanathan win the next set 6-3.
The final set began with both players at 1-1. However, Broady took charge of the set and rallied to win the match 6-4. The 17th seed and World No. 174 will face Australian player Christopher O’ Connell in the qualifiers on March 10, 2022.
Meanwhile, Indian player Prajnesh Gunneswaran defeated American wild card Ryan Harrison 6-3, 6-4, and advanced at the Mexico Challenger tournament.
The Indian Wells Masters is a part of the ATP Masters 1000 tour. The tour will run between March 08 and March 20, 2022.
