Impact of Cyclone ‘Arnab’ in Andhra Pradesh: Konaseema District Collector advises people to stay indoors

Andhra Pradesh: In Andhra Pradesh, the district administration is on alert in view of the impact of Cyclone ‘Arnab’ in Dr. BR Ambedkar Konaseema district. District Collector Dr R Mahesh Kumar has appealed to the people not to leave their homes without any essential work till Wednesday afternoon and travel only when absolutely necessary. The administration has intensified relief and restoration work, giving top priority to the safety of the people.

District Collector Dr R Mahesh Kumar said that due to the impact of the cyclone, trees have been uprooted at many places in different parts of the district, while electric poles have also fallen. Due to this, traffic and power supply have been affected in some areas. Officers and staff of the concerned departments are working continuously to normalize the situation.

The Collector informed that necessary steps are being taken to remove fallen trees from the roads in the affected areas, remove problems related to damaged electric poles and complete other emergency works. The administration is trying to minimize the problems of the people and normal life can be normalized as soon as possible.

He said that the district administration is constantly monitoring the situation in the cyclone-affected areas. Regular review of relief and restoration operations is being done and instructions are being given to the concerned authorities as per the requirement. Administration teams are active in the affected areas and all necessary efforts are being made to maintain security.

In view of the prevailing circumstances, the District Collector has appealed to the people to take precautions. He said that people should not step out of their homes unnecessarily and avoid travelling unless necessary. Especially avoid going on roads where trees have fallen or damaged electric poles.

Along with this, the collector has also advised people to stay away from broken power lines. He explained that touching damaged electrical wires can be extremely dangerous. In case of such a situation, people should inform the concerned department instead of repairing themselves.

The District Magistrate appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the administration in the restoration works, follow the instructions of the officials and give priority to their safety. The administration has assured that the situation is being continuously monitored and necessary relief and restoration work in the affected areas is being completed on priority.
