IMD warns of another Depression over Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh
New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned about another depression that formed in the Eastern part of the country. The department is constantly monitoring the movement of the depression and the meteorological changes and wind pressure systems surrounding it.
According to fresh developments, the depression is deep-seated and is lying over Southwest Jharkhand, Northwest Odisha, and North Chhattisgarh as on Saturday, August 20, 2022.
The IMD also warned that the depression will further move towards central India within the next 24 hours. IMD also expects the depression to gradually weaken. The department took to Twitter and shared several maps and aerial photographs that track the movement of the depression.
“Deep Depression over Southwest Jharkhand and adjoining Northwest Odisha and North Chhattisgarh near latitude 22.8°N and longitude 84.8°E about 150 km west of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. To move West-Northwestwards towards north Madhya Pradesh in next 24 hrs. and weaken gradually,” IMD informed.
Sharing information about the depression, IMD had earlier tweeted, “Deep Depression over South Jharkhand and adjoining North Odisha continue to move West-Northwestwards across Jharkhand and North Chhattisgarh towards north MP during next 24 hours and weaken.”
The depression originated in the Bay of Bengal on August 19, 2022. Informing about the depression, IMD had said, “Depression over Northwest and adjoining Northeast Bay of Bengal intensified into a Deep Depression and lay centered about 200 km east-southeast of Balasore and 130 km east-southeast of Digha at 1130 IST of today. To cross the coast between Balasore and Sagar Islands by today evening.”
