New Delhi : The education department in Goa was directed to shut down all schools before 12 p.m. for the coming two days of Thursday and Friday because of the heatwave.

The Indian Meteorological Department has given a warning to the Goa government about a heatwave after forecasting the temperature, which is likely to rise in the coming two days.

As per the IMD report, the education department in Goa has issued a directive to dismiss the class before 12 p.m. on March 9 and 10.

The director of education, Shailash Zingade, said that “the decision has been taken due to the heatwave alert.” He further added that a “circular has been sent to all the schools, including primary, secondary, and senior secondary schools in the state.”

According to the IMD report about the forecasting, the conditions for the heatwave will hike and the maximum temperature of the place will likely fall about two to three degrees from March 11 onward, but the previous two days are under alert. The department has also given advice to the people of Goa to stay at home and keep themselves hydrated.

The department has issued a forecast for the entire year, particularly for the summertime period, predicting the intermittent nature of the heatwaves.

Not only Goa but the other states in India are also witnessing such a problem, and because of that, the union health ministry has already issued advice to all the states, urging them to follow the guidelines of a “national action plan” on heat-related issues.
