Ahmedabad: Gujarat state health department on Monday recorded a jump in Covid-19 cases. After a 500-day low daily tally at eight on Sunday, the state again reported 14 new Covid cases on Monday which is a 75 percent rise in single-day cases.

With the discharge of 17 patients, the active cases got reduced by 3 to 133. The new cases include five from Ahmedabad city, three each from Surat and Vadodara cities, and one each from Surat, Vadodara, and Porbandar districts.

Ahmedabad had recorded no new cases on Saturday and Sunday – a first since April 2020. With the discharge of two last patients from Navsari and one from Mahisagar districts, the number of districts with zero active cases rose to 18.

According to a media report, 1.64 crores out of 4.93 crores eligible population is fully vaccinated. Moreover, 3.96 crores have taken at least one shot, covering 80.5 percent of the state’s eligible population.
