New Delhi, April 21: The micro-blogging site Twitter has started to remove the blue tick from unsubscribed accounts. In such a process, all the celebrities and politicians have lost the blue tick on their Twitter accounts.

Recently, Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced the news about removing the blue tick, and those who wanted to have the tick will be paying the amount of USD 8 per month via the web and USD 11 per month in-app payment on iOS and Android. The subscription is set to go into effect on Tuesday.

Those who have not paid have lost the blue tick, including Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, and politicians like C.M. Yogi Adityanath, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, not only in India but in the whole world.

In January 2022, the CEO of SpaceX Company started to purchase shares of Twitter, and on October 22, 2022, he became the owner of the social media site, acquiring a 9.1 percent ownership stake.

After taking over the company in its first two weeks, the CEO announced the Twitter Blue with the Check Mark badge as one of the premium perks. And on April 20, he implemented the new change by removing the blue tick mark from those accounts that had not paid for it.

In 2009, the company introduced the check mark system to help people find the true user accounts of celebrities, politicians, champions, public brands, well-known organizations, and other public figures. At that time, those who were influential got that blue tick without paying for it.
